Thursday, November 12, 2026 – 6pm – at the Palisade Community Gym
The Palisade Historical Society’s November 12th History Talk will be presented by Leigh Jeremias, Digital Collections Senior Colorado Consultant at the Colorado State Library. She will show tips and tricks for searching the Colorado Historical Newspaper Collection website.
One of Palisade Historical Society’s most important ongoing projects is digitizing archival issues of The Palisade Tribune , Palisade’s newspaper of record from June 1903 up to when it ceased publishing in March 2014. There are now 5,191 issues from June 6, 1903, through December 28, 2006 online, with more on the way.
It is possible to search the free Colorado Historic Newspapers Collection database linked on the Historic Palisade website. Currently, this database consists of eight million digitized pages representing more than 1,000 individual newspaper titles published in Colorado from 1859 to 2025! This important community history is often not recorded in any other source for students, teachers, genealogists, and general research.
The History Talk will begin at 6 p.m. on Thursday, November 12th at the Palisade Community Gym (711 Iowa Ave). This program is open to the public, and reservations are not required. Attendees are welcome to bring food and beverages to enjoy during the History Talk. It is FREE admission, and donations are appreciated.
