WE ARE OPEN!

Due to the CDOT Construction for the Elberta Roundabout Project, it is a little tricky to get to the Palisade History Museum, but we are accessible!

The Palisade History Museum is open four days a week: Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays from 10am to 2pm.

Here is a general map on how to reach us. This graphic from CDOT superimposed on a Google Map shows where the Roundabout will be.

PLEASE NOTE: The north frontage road (8th Street), which is in front of the Museum, is currently a single-lane shared roadway, so please use caution. Eventually, it will be a one-way street heading westbound! Please be patient as we all navigate these changes!

💖🍑💖🍑 BACK BY POPULAR DEMAND, the Peach Quilt was on display at The Blue Pig Gallery in Palisade this summer! It depicted 90 varieties of peaches – all hand-painted! The Palisade Historical Society also has a 2026 Calendar of the Peach Quilt available for a donation ($20 each), while supplies last. We have renovated a pre-1939 log building into Palisade’s first history museum as the permanent home for our collection of historic photos, documents, and memorabilia.

Admission is free, and donations are appreciated.

Priscilla Walker, current Vice Chair and Founding Chair of the Palisade Historical Society, tells the fascinating story of how she and a dedicated team of volunteers pulled off an enormous effort to quite literally save history in 2014 when they kept 111 years of issues of the Palisade Tribune from destruction.

The Palisade Historical Society is dedicated to collecting, preserving, and communicating the unique history of this small, Western Colorado town which was settled in the 1890s and incorporated in 1904. 

The Palisade Historical Society is a 501(c)(3) organization. Donations are tax deductible. Our non-profit tax ID number is 27-2460812.

 

Digitizing The Palisade Tribunes

Another important project has been our work with preserving, digitizing, and adding issues of The Palisade Tribune, our newspaper of record from June 6, 1903 to March 2014 to the Colorado Historic Newspaper Collection database. It is free to search the database, and we continue fundraising to get as many of the remaining issues on the database as possible.
